It is funnier to be dying than to not be dying. It is friendlier and more beautiful, and you will meet more people and have more interesting conversations. If you are dying, people are nice to you. People permit you to see strange things and don’t laugh at you when your teeth fall out or you fall to pieces on the bus. When you aren’t dying anymore, your flowers are taken away.

Haven’t seen this film, but your entry ignites other ideas. For instance, you ever notice how when someone’s dying, their imperfections become sentimentalized, frail nuggets of humanity somehow teeming with life of their own? When you’re dying, you give life to your imperfections. When you’re dying, people tend to block out the small faults that minimize them, they look to the dying and see purity in flaw.
